Missing Newark Man’s Body Recovered from Passaic River

Passaic Newark

Authorities today confirmed that the body recovered last month from the Passaic River off the Kearny shoreline is that of a 45-year-old Martin Ramos.

According to authorities, on October 21st, a bystander flagged down police officers around 2 p.m. after two men were in distress after they reportedly entered the river. Emergency crews responded and managed to rescue one of the men, but Ramos was never found.

Almost a week later, Ramo’s body was recovered in the Passaic River near the Pulaski Skyway.

Following an autopsy, authorities determined Ramos' cause of death was drowning.

There were no additional details provided as to the condition of the rescued victim.
