Milltown Woman Accused of Setting Her House on Fire

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Brian Knelle of the Milltown Police Department said today that a 50-year-old borough woman has been arrested and charged with setting fire to her house.

Karen Piciullo, who resided at 39 Pershing Avenue in Milltown, was charged on September 5th with aggravated arson and criminal mischief. Her bail was set at $150,000.

​During the investigation, it was determined that Piciullo set the fire on September 5, sometime around 5:24 a.m. The fire destroyed the entire 1 ½-story house and resulted in the death a dog.

The Milltown Fire Department and North Brunswick Fire Department assisted with gaining control of the fire and preventing the fire from spreading to nearby houses.

The investigation is active and is continuing.
