An off-duty postal employee is suffering non-life threatening injuries after being shot early this morning in Newark.
The early morning shooting happened at around 3:45 a.m. in the area of 18th Ave. and Winans Ave. where police responded to reports of shots fired at that location.
According to reports, the victim was pulled over in his vehicle by a white Crown Victoria with tinted windows and occupied by two black males who identified themselves as police officers during the alleged traffic stop.
During the brief time of the traffic stop, the suspects pulled a weapon and fired a shot at the victim, striking him in the hand according to reports.
The victim was transported to University Hospital where he suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Newark Police are actively searching for the suspects.
