Man Wanted for Perth Amboy Murder Arrested in Boston

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Roman McKeon of the Perth Amboy Police Department announce that a man from El Salvador is now in custody for the murder of a Perth Amboy man.

 

Francisco Carlos Ramires “aka” Carlos Campos, 20, of El Salvador, living in East Boston, Massachusetts, was apprehended by Boston Police on September 1st, on unrelated charges.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office was notified of his apprehension, and he was subsequently arrested and charged with the murder.

 

Authorities charged Ramires with one count of murder in the first degree and one count of possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose in the third degree. He is currently being held in Massachusetts awaiting extradition to New Jersey.

 

The 18-year-old victim, Jose David Guardado - Leiva was found on August 25, 2017 and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation began when a 911 call was received at 7:41 when a passerby discovered the victim’s body on Conrail property near William Street in the City.

The Medical Examiner determined that the victim died from sharp injuries of the head, neck and torso.

 

The investigation is active and is continuing.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Ramires are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
