Newark Police are on the search for a suspect who is wanted for a shots fired incident that occurred in a Newark neighborhood overnight.
The police investigation was initiated in the vicinity of 37 Ponier Street before 12:45 a.m. where officers responded to reports of shots fired at that location.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that a male suspect arrived in the area and began to fire shots in the area before fleeing the scene.
Police described the suspect as a heavyset black male who wore a dark colored shirt, and blue jeans.
Officers searched the area, but they did not find any injured victims according to reports.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
