Man Wanted for Deadly Jersey City Shooting That Led to Crash

Authorities in Hudson County are asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in Jersey City earlier this month.

According to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, 28-year-old Gerard Rosario of Jersey City is being sought for allegedly fatally shooting a man on Saturday, May 3, 2025.

Investigators say Rosario should be considered armed and dangerous and urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact their office or submit a tip online. 

All tips will be kept confidential.

Just after 4 p.m. that day, Jersey City police responded to reports of a crash near Old Bergen Road and Merritt Street. 

Officers arrived to find a vehicle that had struck a tree, and inside, a man was found unresponsive in the driver’s seat.

The victim, later identified as 39-year-old Devon Reid of Elizabeth, had suffered a gunshot wound to the neck. 

Emergency medical personnel rushed him to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead around 7:16 p.m.

Rosario faces multiple charges related to the incident, including murder and multiple weapons offenses.
