Man Wanted for Burglarizing Car, Stealing Gun in Newark

Police officials in Newark seek the public’s help identifying a suspect who broke into a vehicle and stole two black book bags containing the victim’s personal belongings, which included a firearm, on December 11. 

Newark officials said police responded to a call regarding a burglary that occurred at approximately 3 a.m. in the 200 block of South 9th Street.

According to police, the suspect, captured on surveillance video, damaged the passenger side rear window and removed the book bags.

One of them contained the victim’s handgun, an H&K 9MM with Serial #224-325267. 

Police would not confirm if the victim was a law enforcement officer who left their weapon improperly secured  in the vehicle. 

 The suspect, described as 5’7” to 5’10” inches tall with a medium build, was wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt with a hood and Adidas track pants
