Man Walking on Street in Newark’s South Ward Struck by Gunfire

Newark Police are on the search for a suspect that fired a gun on a street in the city’s South Ward that struck a male on Friday evening.

According to a statement released by Newark Police officials, it happened at approximately 5:25 p.m. where police said the victim was walking near Hedden Terrace and West Runyon when gunfire rang out from an unknown direction.

Police officials said the victim suffered a gunshot wound to leg and managed to get himself to University Hospital where he was treated by doctors for the non-life threatening injury and is in stable condition.

The incident is under investigation and no arrests have been made.
