Police in Newark are on the search for the suspect who fired a gun in a neighborhood in the city that struck one person on Monday evening.
According to police, the incident happened at approximately 7:50 p.m. in the 80's block of North 9th Street where police responded to multiple rounds of shots fired that erupted at that location.
Police officers arrived at the scene and found a male victim suffering serious injuries after a bullet struck him in the stomach.
Medical personnel transported the victim to University Hospital where doctors treated his injuries according to officials.
Police say the suspect fled in a dark-colored vehicle with tinted windows fled from the scene right after the shooting. The same car was reportedly stolen on Saturday and had a gun inside. Newark Police officials would not immediately confirm if the car and the gun belonged to a police officer who left the weapon in the vehicle.
Police say that vehicle is wanted for multiple shootings that caused injuries on Saturday in Newark.
