Police are investigating an early-morning shooting that left a man wounded along Route 21 in Passaic on Saturday.
According to preliminary information, authorities were alerted shortly before 4 a.m. to a shooting in the northbound lanes of Route 21 near milepost 10.1.
The victim, an unidentified male, reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. His condition was not immediately available.
Police were searching for a blue BMW bearing New York license plates that was reportedly seen fleeing northbound following the shooting.
Preliminary information indicated that the license plate was hanging from the vehicle’s rear bumper.
The number of people inside the BMW was unknown.
Authorities have not released information regarding a possible motive or what led up to the shooting.
The investigation remains active and developing.
