Newark Police are investigating an early Monday afternoon shooting that injured one person in the city's South Ward.
Police set up a crime scene near the intersection of Elizabeth and Watson avenues shortly before 1 p.m. after a male suffering a gunshot wound entered Beth Israel Hospital.
Hospital officials contacted police upon the victim's arrival to the emergency room prompting the investigation.
According to preliminary reports, the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
No arrests have been made.
