A tragic motor vehicle crash near the intersection of North Wood Avenue and West Gibbons Street has left the Linden community in shock as investigators work to determine what transpired.

The incident occurred just after 10:00 a.m. Monday. Preliminary reports indicate that the collision involved a GMC SUV and a Chevy SUV.

Linden Police said a GMC was attempting a left-hand turn onto W. Gibbons Street when it tragically collided with the Chevy SUV, which was traveling south on North Wood Ave.

First responders raced to the scene in response to distress calls.

The arrival of ambulances and police vehicles marked the urgency of the situation, turning the intersection into a scene of chaos.

Police said five occupants of the Chevy SUV, undoubtedly shaken by the ordeal, were promptly transported to Newark University Hospital.

Fortunately, their injuries were assessed as non-life-threatening

However, the GMC's driver was rushed to RWJUH Rahway Hospital, where, despite the dedicated efforts of healthcare providers, the driver of the GMC, identified as Mr. Robert Poznanski, later succumbed to those injuries

As the city attempted to come to terms with this devastating incident, the scene of the collision remained a focal point for investigators.

The investigation into this fatal motor vehicle crash continues.

Authorities are appealing to the community for assistance, urging anyone with pertinent information to come forward.
