Man, Juvenile Dragged Bellville Man with Carjacked Vehicle Police say

Newark Belleville

NEWARK – Police officials in Newark announced the arrest of a juvenile and an adult passenger who were caught by Newark Police after abandoning a carjacked vehicle.

According to police, on the morning of Aug. 6, the juvenile and 19-year-old Mr. Esiahs Lorenzo were spotted in the car, which had been reported as carjacked out of Belleville shortly before.

The suspects abandoned the vehicle and police ascertained the juvenile was the driver.

Both were caught after a brief foot chase and the juvenile was found to be wearing a GPS monitoring bracelet due to an arrest on July 23 on multiple drug counts, including distribution.

“This was a very quick apprehension by our officers,” Ambrose said. “And once again, it shows these juveniles who are repeat offenders and released on monitoring bracelets, are committing crimes that would be completely avoidable if system were better designed to protect the public.”
