Passaic County authorities are investigating a shooting that left a man injured inside a building in Paterson on Sunday night.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 50's block of Pearl Street just before 10:30 p.m. sending police to the scene where officers found the victim bleeding from his leg after being struck by gunfire.
The victim was taken to St. Joseph's Medical Center where doctors treated non-life threatening injuries.
Officers canvassed the area around the building and reportedly found a weapon in the backyard, but a further search did not locate a victim according to reports.
The incident remains under an active investigation.
There were no other injuries reported.
