Authorities set up a crime scene in a Newark South ward community as detectives attempted to collect evidence to support a motive for a shooting that left one person injured overnight.
According to preliminary reports, officials at the Beth Israel Hospital contacted police when a male victim entered the emergency room suffering a gunshot wound just before 2 a.m.
Police determined that the victim was fired upon in the 100 block of Scheerer Avenue shortly before arriving at the hospital.
The extent of the victim's injuries have not been released at this time.
