Police are investigating a shooting that left a man injured on a street in Newark's South Ward on Friday morning.
It happened in the vicinity of 58 Willoughby Street at around 1:40 a.m. where police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out at that location.
Units arriving at the scene found evidence that a shooting occurred but could not immediately find a victim according to reports.
Police reportedly found the male victim suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg near Bergen Street and 18th Avenue after being transported by private vehicle to the hospital.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
There were no other injuries reported.
