An early morning shooting that injured a male in a Newark neighborhood is under investigation by Newark Police.
According to a preliminary investigation, police were called to the 90's block of Frelinghuysen Avenue after they received reports of shots fired at around 1:20 a.m.
Responding officers arrived to find evidence that a shooting occurred and a male victim bleeding from the arm after suffering an apparent gunshot wound according to reports.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where his injuries were not reported as life-threatening.
Police set up a crime scene where they found shell casings and other evidence according to reports.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
