There is an active and ongoing investigation underway as police look into an early morning shooting that erupted on a street in Paterson.
It happened in the vicinity of 418 Ellison Street at around 2 a.m. where police answered calls for a shots fired investigation.
Units arrived at the scene and found a male victim suffering a gunshot wound to the back at that location.
EMS rushed the male to St. Josephs Hospital where doctors treated the victim's injuries,
Police officers taped off the shooting scene after finding several shell casings and other evidence.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
