Man Found Struck by Gunfire in Newark's West Ward; Nearly a Half Dozen Vehicles Found with Bullet Holes

EMS rushed a male to University Hospital after police found him struck by gunfire this afternoon in Newark.

The incident unfolded in the 200 block of Alexander Street in Newark's West Ward just before 1:50 p.m.

Police say reports of shots fired had units on the scene where they found the victim injured and about a half-dozen vehicles penetrated by bullets.

Detectives set up a crime scene that stretched for several blocks where they searched the area for other victims but did not locate any.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
