Man Found Shot in Newark's North Ward; Several Shootings Under Investigation

Police in Newark are looking for a gunman who shot a man in Newark's North Ward Sunday night. 

Residents in the area of 801 North 6th Street dialed 911 after gunfire rang out around 8 p.m. 

Officers arrived at the scene and found a male victim suffering a bullet wound in his leg. The Newark Shooting Response Team searched the area and found shell casings, but no other injuries were reported. 

The victim was rushed to University Hospital for treatment and remained stable. 

Newark Police spent much of Sunday investigating several other shootings in the city, including a shots-fired incident with a person struck by gunfire on Clinton and Hillside avenues around 1:15 p.m. 

Lupus

Police responded to reports of shots fired in South Orange Avenue and Fairmount around 5:30 p.m., where they arrived and found a crime scene. 

At approximately 8:15 p.m., residents say they heard about seven rounds of gunfire on 12th Avenue, forcing them to call the police. 

All of Sunday's shootings are under investigation, with no arrests reported.
