There is an active investigation underway into a shooting that left a man injured in Newark overnight.
Police responded to the vicinity of Jeliff and Avon avenues shortly before 10:30 p.m. after receiving reports of shots fired.
Several police units arriving at the scene found the victim suffering non-life threatening gunshot wounds at that location.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where doctors treated injuries to his leg.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
There were no arrests reported.
