Police reported severe injuries for a male gunshot victim found in the parking lot of a hospital in Newark on Sunday night.
A preliminary investigation revealed that officials at Univerisity Hospital notified Newark Police of a gunshot victim who arrived at the hospital in a car.
Police arrived and found the unidentified male suffering gunshot wounds at that location.
According to police, the victim was rushed into the hospital and administered aid while officers searched the vicinity of 534 South 12th Street near 18th Avenue for a crime scene.
Area residents reported seeing the vehicle crash into another vehicle near the intersection, with the victim inside.
Police recovered shell casings on South 12th Street but have not confirmed if the shooting happened at that location at this time.
The incident is under investigation.
