Authorities in Newark are investigating a shooting that left a man injured in the city overnight.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired with an injured person in the 400 block of Clinton Ave. shortly before 1 a.m.
Arriving units located a male victim seriously injured after being shot at that location.
EMS transported the conscious and alert victim to University Hospital where he suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
It is not immediately clear if the shooting happened just across from the police station or if the victim suffered injury at another location and made his way to where he was found.
There were reports of shots fired in the teens block of Willougby Street at around 1:30 a.m. where police setup a crime scene after finding several shell casings.
Th shootings are under investigation by Newark Police.
