Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino announced today that the Orange Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a fatal shooting.
According to a statement released by auhorities, Sunday, at approximately 10:35 am, the body of Mr. Michael S. Boyd, 46, of Orange was discovered in a vacant lot in the 100 block of Matthews Street in Orange suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Police say Boyd was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:23 am.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
Authorities say no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.
