Man Found Dead Inside Storage Unit in Orange

Orange

The State Regional Medical Examiners Office in Newark will determine the official cause of death for a man who was found dead inside a storage unit in Orange on Wednesday morning.

According to a preliminary investigation, police were called to investigate reports of an injured person at the Uhaul Self-Storage facility located in the 200 block of Scotland Road at approximately 10:27 a.m.

Upon arrival, workers took police to a unit where they found an unconscious and unresponsive 54-year-old man lying inside the rental space according to authorities.

Police say the man was pronounced dead at the scene and no foul play was suspected at that time. Officials say it appeared that the man died of natural causes after being ill and lived for an unknown period inside the storage unit.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office did not confirm a homicide investigation in the case after reaching officials by phone.
