Man Fires Shots in Yard of his Orange Home

Orange

Police in Orange are looking into the circumstances behind a shots-fired incident in a residential neighborhood in the city.

According to a preliminary investigation, a resident in the 300 block of Lawn Ridge Road dialed 911 after hearing gunfire rang out in the area just before 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the caller, who told them that he heard several rounds of gunfire coming from a house on the block while in the neighborhood.

After a further investigation, police narrowed their search to the yard of a home in the community around 4:30 p.m.

Police say a father and son were questioned at the home and confirmed to them that the senior man exited the house from the rear door then fired a shotgun and a handgun in the air but never pointed the guns to hurt anyone.

According to police, permission was granted to officers to search the residence, where they reportedly found five guns that included a rifle and handguns, all appearing to be registered to the father.

Officers at the scene confiscated all the weapons from the home then temporarily detained the father and son for the investigation.

The pair were released after being questioned by authorities.

There were no injuries reported and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
