Detectives in Camden County are investigating a fatal shooting that authorities say preceded a five-vehicle crash in neighboring Pennsauken on Tuesday evening.

According to a statement released by Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez, officers were first dispatched to the 3300 block of Westfield Avenue in Camden at approximately 7:02 p.m. on June 2 following a ShotSpotter activation.

When officers arrived, they located multiple shell casings and an unoccupied vehicle that had been struck by gunfire.

Just four minutes later, at approximately 7:06 p.m., Pennsauken police responded to a crash involving five vehicles at the intersection of Drexel Avenue and Route 130. Upon arrival, officers discovered that one of the vehicles involved in the collision had also been struck by gunfire.

The driver of that vehicle was identified as 36-year-old Izaiah Minzy of Westville. Authorities said Minzy was suffering from a gunshot wound when first responders arrived.

He was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 8:11 p.m.

Officials said six other people occupying vehicles involved in the crash sustained minor injuries.

Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and whether it is directly connected to the crash.

No arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
