Man Fatally Shot in Camden; First City Homicide Since Spring

A 29-year-old man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon on the 1200 block of Morton Street, marking Camden’s first homicide since the spring, according to information from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
 

Police responded at about 1:50 p.m. after a ShotSpotter activation and found the victim with gunshot wounds. 

He was pronounced dead a short time later. Before this incident, the city’s last homicides occurred on March 29, when two men were killed.

Camden recorded 18 homicides last year, down from 28 in both 2022 and 2023. 

Overall, homicides in the city have fallen about 64% since 2014, the first full year the Camden County Police Department began patrolling following the dissolution of the former city police force.
