Man Extradited from Georgia For 2019 Paterson Shooting

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora announce that based upon an investigation by the Paterson Police Department, in conjunction with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Keith V. Brinkley, 29-years old, from Paterson, was arrested October 29, 2019, in the State of Georgia and he was recently extradited to New Jersey, in relation to a shooting investigation that took place in the area of Pearl and Carroll Street Paterson.

Police say Mr. Brinkley is charged with Attempted Murder, First Degree; Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Second Degree; and Possession of a Handgun for an Unlawful Purpose, Second Degree.

According to police, on September 24, 2019, members of the Paterson Police Department responded to the area of Pearl and Carroll Street Paterson, NJ on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival the police located evidence of a crime scene, but no victim was located.

A short time later members of the Paterson Police Department were advised that a 31-year-old male Belleville resident arrived at Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson seeking treatment for a non-fatal gunshot wound.

Based on the investigation Mr. Brinkley was identified as the individual who shot the victim and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
