A male victim who was struck by gunfire multiple times in Newark underwent surgery overnight and is in critical condition this morning.
The incident unfolded at around 8 p.m. when officials at University Hospital contacted authorities when the victim arrived to the hospital by private vehicle injured by gunfire.
Police searched the 100 block of North 6th Street where officers found a crime scene at that location.
Officers also found projectiles inside the vehicle that the victim was transported to the hospital in.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation by Newark Police.
There were no arrests reported.
