Authorities are investigating an overnight shooting that occurred in the city that left one person dead.
According Chief Ambrose of the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, at about 7 p.m. last evening, Newark resident Shahid Finch, 32, was was gunned down in the 500 block of Central Avenue near So. 9th Street.
Finch later died of his injuries at 7:12 pm at University hospital Chief Ambrose said.
There is no motive or suspects at this time.
The investigation is on-going and is being conducted by the Essex County Prosecutor's Homicide Task Force Chief Ambrose said.
