A man was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle late Thursday night in downtown Newark.

According to a statement released by Emanuel Miranda Sr., police responded to the intersection of Raymond Boulevard and McCarter Highway at approximately 11:59 p.m. on Thursday March 11 following reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from injuries after being hit by a vehicle.
Authorities said the victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment, where he was reported to be in critical condition.
Officials confirmed that the driver involved in the incident remained at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
