Police in Newark are investigating a shooting that left a man injured early this morning.
Officials at the University Hospital contacted authorities when a male victim reportedly entered the emergency department at around 4 a.m suffering multiple gunshot wounds according to reports.
The victim reported to authorities that he was shot somewhere on Stuyvesant Avenue shortly before making it to the hospital.
The victim was struck in his lower extremities and was expected to survive.
Police searched a portion of Stuyvesant Avenue for evidence and a crime scene.
There were no reports of arrests.
