Man Arrested for Bloomfield Package Theft Suspected of Stealing Others in Essex County

Police departments in the Essex County region are checking to see if a suspect Bloomfield Police arrested for stealing a package from a home in their Township on February 26 is linked to other thefts. 

According to Bloomfield authorities, officers responded to the area of Brighton Avenue and Cleveland Terrace on a report of package thefts.

Bloomfield Police said a witness told them they observed a male walk up to a residence on Cleveland Terrace and removed a package that was delivered.

Police say the package contained clothing valued at $50.00.

Officers were able to apprehend the suspect, identified as Mr. William Walton, 49, of East Orange, at the scene.

Authorities in Essex County are checking home surveillance cameras to determine if Mr. Walton has committed other thefts in the area. 

Walton was taken into custody and processed by Bloomfield Police.

This is a law enforcement department’s accusation. Walton is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
