An out-of-state man was arrested at a Home Depot in Bloomfield on charges of shoplifting and fraud.

According to the store's Loss Prevention Officer, Mr. Anthony McFarland, a 39-year-old resident of Brooklyn, NY, attempted to return five Hampton Bay light fixtures using a fraudulent receipt.

Police said surveillance footage revealed that McFarland had entered the store carrying only two fans and had taken the additional three light fixtures from the shelf without paying for them.

McFarland was promptly placed under arrest and transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters for further processing.

The incident serves as another example in a string of retail fraud cases that have affected businesses and highlights the importance of stepped-up loss prevention measures at Home Depot in Bloomfield.
