Police arrested a man and are searching for another after shots were fired in Newark on August 12th.
According to authorities, shortly after 10 p.m., police responded to the area of Farley and Avon avenues on a Shot Spotter notification.
Upon arrival, officers determined a man fired a weapon, endangering a person in the area and damaging property.
Officials say no one was reported injured in this incident.
Investigating detectives identified Maurice Thompson as a suspect in this incident and ultimately arrested on August 20th. Police charged Thompson with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Endangering Another Person and Criminal Mischief.
Authorities also secured a warrant for the arrest of Najee Kelly, 18, of Newark, on a charge of Hindering the Apprehension of a Suspect as part of this investigation.
These charges are merely accusations. Each suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
