Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose announced the arrest of Smith Jones, a 34-year-old Newark man, for Aggravated Assault, Possession of a gun, Possession of the gun for Unlawful Purposes and Discharging a gun within City limits.
According to police, at approximately 11p.m. last night, police were patrolling near Georgia King Village when they heard gunshots.
Officers immediately responded to Littleton Avenue along with Cease Fire detectives who initiated an investigation police said.
During the course of investigation throughout the wvening, authorities said shooting team detectives developed sufficient evidence to determine that Jones was responsible and arrested him without incident.
Thus far, there is no evidence that anyone was injured police said.
