Bound Brook New Jersey

A 47-year-old man from Los Angeles was arrested Friday after he allegedly left a 3-year-old girl in a running car for over a half an hour while he went into a bar to drink.

Police responded to Hamilton Street around 7:53 p.m. Friday after someone reported that a child was left unattended in a parked silver Infiniti SUV.

Police responded and initiated a search for the driver or the vehicle. The driver, later identified as Theophilus M. Ammons, was later located in area bar by police.

Initial investigation revealed that Ammons left the 3-year-old girl alone in the running car for approximately 40 minutes. At this time, the relationship between Ammons and the child are unknown.

According to Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Geoffrey Soriano Ammons was charged with second-degree child endangerment Friday.

He was remanded to the Somerset County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash-only bail.

The child is in custody of her mother, who is a Bound Brook resident, according to police.
