Man, 98, Struck, Critically Injured by Commuter Bus in Elmwood Park

A 98-year old man attempting to cross the street was struck by a commuter bus this morning in Elmwood Park.

According to police, officers responded to the intersection of Mola Boulevard at Washington Avenue, at approximately 7 a.m., for a report of a crash.

Upon arrival, police found George Mead, 98, of Elmwood Park, suffering serious head injuries. Mead was transported to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson where he is listed in critical condition.

The bus - registered to NJ Transit - was operated by Community Coach.

The incident is under investigation.
