EMS rushed a male gunshot victim to University Hospital suffering severe injuries after a shooting occurred in a neighborhood in Newark early Saturday morning.
According to officials, reports of shots fired rang out in the vicinity of 7 Grafton Avenue at approximately 3:20 a.m. sending a significant police presence to the scene where officers found the victim suffering a gunshot wound to the stomach at that location.
Police officials say officers recovered multiple shell casings near Broadway and Grafton Avenue where they taped off the area for the investigation.
The victim is around the age of 20 and the incident is in the early stages of the investigation according to police.
