Male Shot in Newark’s South Ward

Police recovered shell casings in the 60’s block of Dewey Street after gunfire rang out injuring a male on Monday night.

Authorities were notified of shots fired that rang out in the South Ward community before 8:45 p.m. where officers arrived and found evidence that a shooting occurred.

A male victim was found a distance away suffering a gunshot wound after police believe he was shot in the area of Lyons Avenue and Hobson Street.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
