There is an active and ongoing investigation into a shooting that injured a male on NJ-21 in Newark Wednesday night.
According to police, at approximately 9:45 p.m., police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 1400 block of McCartney Highway.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the seriously injured victim suffering multiple bullet wounds and a vehicle inside a parking lot with bullet holes, according to police.
The unidentified male was rushed to University Hospital for treatment while officers canvassed the crime scene for other victims and possible suspects.
There were no other victims struck by gunfire and the motive for the shooting is under investigation.
