Male Shot Multiple Times in Newark's West Ward

Newark Police are investigating an overnight shooting that severely injured a male victim in the city's West Ward. 

Officers responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the area of 16-34 North Munn Avenue shortly before 1 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found the 18-year-old victim suffering multiple bullet wounds in his back at that location. 

Police said EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital, where doctors treated reports of some paralysis.

Officials said they also found a second gunshot victim who was struck in their hand.  

According to police, the suspect fled the scene and is at large. The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
