Police are on the scene of a shots-fired incident with a person injured in a section of Newark's Central Ward.
At approximately 6:29 p.m., a ShotSpotter device activated and alerted police of gunfire in the area of 152 Livingston Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found evidence that a shooting had occurred, but no victims were located.
While police searched the area, officials at University Hospitals alerted police of a male who entered the emergency room suffering a bullet wound in his back.
The victim reportedly ran out of the hospital and didn't receive treatment.
Police are canvassing the victim near the hospital at this time. Authorities believe that the walk-in gunshot victim was injured on Livingston Street.
The incident is under investigation.
