Newark Police are on the search for the suspect who opened fire on a person near a Newark housing complex in the city's West Ward overnight.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to the 50's block of South Munn Avenue on a report of shots fired near the Bradley Court Housing Complex at approximately 11:30 p.m.
Upon their arrival, police found the victim suffering a gunshot wound to the back according to reports.
Police set up a crime scene where they searched the area for evidence to support a motive for the shooting while EMS transported the victim to University Hospital in serious condition.
There were no arrests reported.
