Newark Police reported non-fatal injuries for a male victim shot in the city's South Ward this evening.
Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 500 block of Hawthorne Avenue around 6:20 p.m., where units arrived and found the victim bleeding from his arm after being shot at that location.
Officials said the victim was transported to University Hospital, where he is expected to survive.
Police found additional shell casings in the area of Fabyan Place and Nye Avenue, but the suspect fled the scene and is at large.
