One person suffered severe injuries in a shots-fired incident that erupted on a street in Jersey City during the overnight hours.
According to police, gunfire rang our in the vicinity of 114 Union Street around 11:17 p.m., sending police to the scene to investigate.
When officers arrived, they found a male victim bleeding heavily from his stomach after a bullet struck him at that location.
According to police, the unidentified victim was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment and remain serious condition.
Police say they are looking for three suspects who approached the victim and began to fire rounds at him before fleeing the scene.
Detectives canvassing the area found multiple shell casings on the ground.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation and no other injuries were reported.
