Male Injured in Newark South Ward Shooting

Police offcials in Newark are investigating a shooting that injured a male over the week in Newark's South ward.

According to police, gunfire rang out near the intersection of Aldine Street ad Goldsmith Avenue around 4 a.m. Saturday morning.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a male bleeding from his leg after a gunman fired in his direction, according to police.

Police say they believe that the victim was being robbed during the incident and the suspect ran from the scene.

Officers on the scene assisted in medical techniques to stop the bleeding until EMS arrived at the scene. The victim is expected to recover.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
