Male Injured in Newark South Ward Shooting
Police in Newark's South Ward are on the search for a suspect who they say is wanted for a shooting that injured a male near a housing development in the city's South Ward.
According to police, reports of shots fired sent police to the vicinity of 151 Jeliff Avenue at approximately 8:30 p.m. where they found the victim suffering a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen according to reports.
The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries according to reports.
Police say they were alerted to the area from a ShotSpotter activation where they canvassed near the Pilgrim Housing development and found the victim.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
