Male Injured in Newark Shooting
Police set up a crime scene in the 400 block of Lyons Avenue as investigators searched for evidence to support a motive for a shooting that injured a male in Newark this evening.
Police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out at approximately 7:25 p.m. where officers arrived at the scene to find evidence that a shooting occurred but no victim was found according to preliminary reports.
Police searching the scene found a car damaged by bullets at that location.
A short time later, police were informed by hospital officials at Beth Israel that a male victim entered the emergency department suffering gunshot wounds.
Doctors admitted the patient into surgery for serious injurie where he remains in stable condition according to reports.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
